What is Superannuation?
The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) describes superannuation
(commonly known as “super”) as an investment in your future. It’s the main way most Australians save for retirement.
Super is a long-term investment that grows over time. The more you
contribute throughout your working life, the more financial security
you’ll have when you retire.
How a Super Financial Advisor can help you
Additional voluntary contributions
Boosting your super with extra contributions can significantly
increase your retirement saving, up to the contribution caps set by
the ATO. additional voluntary contributions.
First home super saving scheme
If you’re a first-time home buyer, you can make voluntary
contributions into your super and later withdraw them to help
purchase your first home.

Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSF)
An SMSF gives you more control over your super, including
the ability to invest in property and decide what shares to
invest in. However, it comes with strict compliance
obligations set by the ATO.
Your accountant will establish your SMSF, maintain
compliance, and engage independent auditors to ensure
everything meets ATO requirements.
Coleman Financial Group accountants can setup, maintain
and ensure your SMSF is compliant. We use a separate
SMSF auditor to ensure your SMSF meets all the ATO
requirements. You can find out more about Self-Managed
Super Funds.

Superannuation in divorce
Asset division during a divorce can be difficult and complex, and super is no exception. We work closely with your solicitor and accountant to help you navigate this process.
Superannuation Beneficiaries
Unless a beneficiary is a direct family member, they may not
automatically receive your super benefits. The best way to
ensure your wishes are honoured is through an estate plan,
created with your solicitor. We collaborate closely to make sure
your plan reflects your intentions.

Insurance
We assess your needs and can arrange insurance either through your super fund or an SMSF. Options include: Life insurance (death cover) Total & Permanent Disability (TPD) cover Income Protection Insurance provides peace of mind, ensuring you and your loved ones are financially protected if the unexpected
happens.
Estate Planning
An estate plan ensures your estate is divided as you
wanted after you pass away. It acts as your guiding document, especially where non-family beneficiaries are
concerned. We work with your solicitor to make sure your estate plan complements your superannuation strategy.

Common Questions About Super Financial Advice
